Tuesday’s Aliens are… 01-29-08

…pretty quiet. Only the yellow one has moved in the past 18 hours. Frica brought it down when I came downstairs yesterday around noon to get ready to go see a client, and it was still on the rug when I got home at 4:30. As the puppies have fallen into a routine that requires less of her time, maybe her interest in it is waning. She did check out the closet both yesterday and again this morning, by-passing the food container both times in favor of the pile of sticky stuff in the corner, but I didn’t hear any digging in there either time. When she went upstairs for the last time before I went to bed, the yellow alien went with her. The two purples and the furry ring remained in my bedroom unchanged. She didn’t have access to there until I came up to bed, but she didn’t make any attempts to get in there while I was home.

There’s an old plank bench at the foot of my bed where I normally put the three extra pillows–two with shams that match the duvet, one with a flannel case– and a stuffed sheep (don’t ask! 🙂 ) at night. However, during the last part of Fric’s pregnancy, I started putting all but the flannel cased one and one with a sham on a chair so there would be a clear space on the bench to make it easier for her to jump on and off the bed. These two were the pillows she often used as her own private bed. (She’s always been an affectionate dog, but she’s way too confident for any clingy stuff. Normally, she only migrates to the bed if she gets cold) After I turned out the light, I heard her do some minimal digging at Watson’s bed and discovered this morning that she had moved the pointy headed alien under the bed about a foot further toward the head of the bed. The other purple one and furry ring had not moved, but the yellow one was smack in the center of what she used to use as her bed. She made no attempt to take it outside as on previous days. When I saw her by the bedroom door later this morning and opened it to see what she’d do, she moved it to the floor and there it remains.

I suspect that the behavior is going to fade as the puppies mature and her hormones aren’t quite so maternally focused. In the meantime, it certainly is interesting.
