This podcast explores some of the most common training mistakes that can contribute to problem behaviors that I’ve encountered in one form or another during my career. In all those years, I don’t recall anyone who made these mistakes who didn’t love their dogs. They all loved their dogs and sometimes very much. But sometimes they got so wrapped up in what a particular training approach communicated about them, they lost sight of what it and they were communicating to their dogs.
This is a photo of a muddy Aussie farm dog in her muddy leg and foot washer. The basics involved little more than an intelligent dog with a solid bond with her people and a reward that consisted of the joy of being in the house with them once she’s cleaned up. An energy-efficient win-win for all of them.
