Another of the many benefits of my interest in behavior combined with my background in biology is that I can see the parallels in human and animal behavior. This is particularly valuable when I find human behavior troubling which, perhaps by virtue of being human, I may be tempted to take more personally. By perceiving it as I would comparable behavior in animals, I find it easier to avoid giving into anger and frustration. Better yet, that more objective view enables me to avoid saying or doing something out of anger or frustration that I’ll later regret.
