BeeBee Lights Up

Since I got BeeBee, I’ve been looking for something that would enable me to readily see her in limited light or darkness. There were two BeeBee-related challenges to this project. The first is that she’s so low to the ground that it couldn’t be anything of any size that dangled from her collar. The second is that she’s now getting a corgi ruff that could hide a smaller light source.

As luck would have it, someone sent me an email about some dog-related event. The event didn’t particularly interest me, but I immediately zeroed in on a notice about a lighted collar offered by www.SitStay.com. I visited the site (Click on collars and harnesses, then lights and scroll down) and learned about the collar, manufactured by PolyBrite International, that combines polymer/LED technology and reflective stitching. The former consists of a band of red light (either steady or flashing, your pick) that you can turn on or off as needed. It’s powered by a watch battery which also means the collar is very light, another plus. The only problem I’ve noticed is that the on/off switch is both very small and covered by the battery’s fabric holder. Trying to locate and manipulate this on a wriggling pup can be a challenge.

As far as SitStay.com goes, I was delighted by their helpful on-site information as well as their prompt service.

If I can figure out how to do it, I’ll post a picture of BeeBee with her new collar at some point. Unfortunately, it’s become almost impossible to photograph her unless she’s sleeping because she’s lately decided I need her help managing the camera.
