Perhaps I’m naive, but I’m not the kind of person who automatically dismisses ancient legends as fantasy. My reasoning is that, if they’ve survived for hundreds and hundreds of years and the same themes repeat in different cultures–such as the legend discussed in this podcast–there must be some element of truth in them somewhere. The other reason legends appeal to me is because many of them arose from and evolved during times when the human species was more attuned to nature.
When I went hunting for a picture of Ollie that best depicted his omniscient look, I had a revelation. While all of my animals have displayed this mental state at one time another, he’s the one most likely to go there when the camera appears.
