Sue Sternberg, who’s probably forgotten more about shelter dogs than most people will ever know, once described dogs who arrive without reliable histories as comparable to sitting in a crowded plane next to an unknown person who carries a box. You can’t be sure what’s in the box until you open it. Sue was referring to behavioral issues. In this podcast, I consider the transportation of the whole canine or feline enchilada, i.e., four-legged fur-covered ecosystems, and what that may mean for companion animals and the people with whom they live.
