If you do a lot of behavioral or shelter work and live in a rural area that attracts tourists or seasonal residents, you soon discover that those in the latter groups often maintain dog-related myths regarding us country dwellers. Like many of my co-inhabitants, I normally smile politely when exposed to these myths and let them roll off me like raindrops on a well-oiled duck. But sometimes the fall-out from this mythical thinking hits me more–to continue my duck analogy–like the residue of an oil slick. When that occurs as it has during the past few weeks, I limit its negative effects via cathartic podcasting. 🙂
