For those unfamiliar with them, talapia belong to a large and still growing family of fish called cichlids. Their great variety and vibrant colors made smaller cichlids a favorite aquarium fish. But the talapia gained sufficient acclaim as a human food source that it’s now farmed as well as caught wild. Their farmed status, in turn, has triggered studies like the one on proactive and reactive talapia that resulted in this podcast.
