An old saying maintains that the difference between one dog and two dogs isn’t one dog. It’s the difference between one dog and a pack. Based on this picture, the rule for cats might be “A place for every cat.”
But what do these statements mean? It depends.
Whether we live with multiple dogs or cats, our animal companions will establish some sort of social structure.The trick is not to impose any unrealistic or point-in-time structures on them that may complicate their lives.
